TVDNY
Formed in May 2005 - launched in November 2006 - TVDNY became a
registered charity in May 2007 - number 1119043. From the first
day, Trustees made a commitment to share knowledge and help create
learning networks across the region,
We:
- Initiate bi-annual conferences as a means of involving
service-users to influence regional issues
- Offer community placements for Durham University - medical
students attend some of the clinics, support groups and branches in
the region and shadow the charity Co-ordinator to learn
about service user perspectives. In May 2011, the students will
have an opportunity to shadow a social worker within Middlesbrough
Borough Council
- Initiated a post-graduate student prize for excellence and
initiative in Health or Social Care at Teesside University to
improve standards of evidence based practice
- Have been commissioned by the region's PCT's to provide an
information dissemination service 2009-2011
- Have established a multi-neuro Peer Support Group in Bishop
Auckland
- Working with partners from University of Teesside, secured
funding for two pilot projects to assess the viability of a larget
project across the NE and for service-users and carers to assess
the potential research materials. In March 2011, a funding
bid to the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Programme is
pending.
As an Alliance of 'neurological' charity representatives,
university lecturers, Independent sector allied
professionals, service-users and carers covering seven
Primary Care Trusts and 1.4million people, we have unique insight
into non-medical perspectives that impact on everyday
life with a neurological injury, condition or impairment.
