About Us
Launched in November 2006 - TVDNY became a registered charity in
May 2007 - number 1119043. From the first day, Trustees made a
commitment to share knowledge and help create learning networks
across the region to improve outcomes for service-users, partners,
families and carers
We:
- Are commissioned by the 6 PCT clusters to provide an
information and signposting service Feb 2009 - Jan 2012
- Manage a Tees service-user and carer reference group as part of
a 360 degree communication chain from commissioner to
service-user.
- Offer workshops, seminars and bi-annual conferences to
encourage service-users and carers to influence regional
issues
- Co-ordinate community placements for medical students from
Durham University to attend clinics and shadow the work of the
charity to learn about service user perspectives
- Offer personal attention to anyone who approaches the charity
for information, advice or guidance
- Offer a post-graduate student prize for excellence and
initiative in Health or Social Care at Teesside University to
improve standards of evidence based practice
- Review condition pathways and map services across the
North East for service improvements and close the
communciation gaps
- Co-ordinate communication strategies between the
Neuroscience Network Durham and Tees-wide Neuro Forums and the
charity
- Support the development of the North Yorks and Yorkshire
Neurological Alliance
- Work in partnership with Teesside University on a research
project
As an alliance of representatives from national and local
charities, Teesside Hospice, service-users and carers, independent
sector and lecturers from the University of Teesside, covering 7
Primary Care Trusts and 1.4million people, we offer a
comprehensive breadth of lived experience.
