As one of over 200 Barchester Healthcare's facilities in the UK, The Hawthorns Centre provides 24-hour nursing care alongside expert care for those with a dementia in their Memory Lane Community
A Neurological Rehabilitation service for younger adults is provided and the Centre caters for respite stays
A modern, purpose-built care home, The Hawthorns is set in a peaceful residential area of Peterlee
The Centre was rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). CQC is the independent body that regularly inspects all care homes in England.
Underlying principles are to provide a wide range of therapies in a supportive and empowering environment, so individuals can enhance their own quality of life and improve their independence skills - whilst building the emotional strength to return, as soon as possible, to their own home in their local community, where outreach support is available
A range of services have been developed- including registered care and nursing services - for people with a wide range of neurological conditions and physical disabilities. These include short-stream rehabilitation (with goal-setting, working towards agreed outcomes based on personalised rehabilitation programmes), supported by an appropriate multi-disciplinary therapy team
Services can also be offered for people on a long term basis, who may need 24-hour care with support from qualified nurses
